Book: The Betrothed
Author: Kiera Cass
Age: For readers 10 and up
No one, and I mean NO ONE should read this book. I’ve read the backs of shampoo bottles with a better plot than the one in this book. 😑 It’s the most boring book I’ve read and it took me 2 WHOLE weeks to finish this super short novel. If I can’t convince you to not read this 300 page trash, take a look at Goodreads where this book has an average of 2.9 stars…. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with that low of a rating. 😬

I agree with so much of what you said. I thought Hollis was one of the most frustratingly naive characters ever...and her friends and family are awful. The fact that her "best" friend was so mean to her was crazy. And I didn't buy into the romance AT ALL.

Hollis was so frustratingly naive I agree! And glad you agree about the romance! There was no chemistry.

Lol agree %100 all the characters were dry as hell. The main girls one trait was goofy lol and that’s it

YESSS even the sahara desert is less dry than these characters lol!
I agree with you! Most of the main characters were bland as hell. A whole lot of telling and no showing!! And the romance was so rushed, it seemed more like lust at first sight than something even remotely close to love. I expected more conflict, more tea and gossip but it was all for nothing and Cass still expected me to feel bad at the end for how they ended? I was honestly kinda relieved because they both were so annoying and vain. Although it’s true the second book gets better if just a little. The romance there does evolve and develop. If you like the rivals/not quite friends-to-lovers, you might enjoy it!

The characters made me yawn so much! Literally a bunch of potato sacks are more interesting than these bland characters here. Ok thanks for telling me! I still might check out the second book and hopefully I like it better!

I agree that the insta love bothered me. I also felt like I was missing so much more depth from the characters and their backstory and I didn’t like how Silas’ only purpose was to be the love interest. It wasn’t believable.

YES the insta love was so annoying! You make a great point! Silas’s had no personality other than to be Hollis’s love interest. Makes it even more frustrating!
